He’s a busy, busy bee, but we managed to grab five minutes with our Design Director Clive Reeve to discuss our latest collaboration with the Warner Textile Archive.
We love a collaboration at Oasis. What is it about these collections that keeps us coming back for more?
Sometimes it’s the opportunity to work with people outside of the normal fashion arena & an excuse to delve into some fabulous archives or work with talented artists.
What first inspired you to work with the Warner Textile Archive?
The Archive has one of the largest collections of historical fabrics in the UK and they work closely with fashion students which is something we always love at Oasis!
The collection is home to 100,000 textiles – how did you choose from such an impressive selection?
It was a difficult choice, but (luckily) I work with a talented print and fabric team who helped narrow the selection.
What’s your favourite fabric that we’ve recreated?
It has to be the rich jacquards… especially the fabric we used on the gold mini skirt. It’s so exciting to bring something back to life.
The collection is perfect for party season. Why do you think Warner fits so well with this theme?
Because AW16 is a very luxurious season, what with its rich jacquards, embroideries & velvets. It’s something the Warner archive has in abundance.
And do you have a favourite piece from the collection?
I mentioned the gold mini skirt earlier but the raspberry pink jacquard dress is a close second.
Sum up the collaboration in 3 words:
Opulent. Unique, Historical
