Did you know this Saturday is International Women’s Day? All about inspiring women to have equality and to be strong, International Women’s Day celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action and every year it focuses on a specific theme.
This year is all about Inspiring Change to encourage advocacy for women’s advancement everywhere in every way. So to celebrate the female species, we’d love to know who your most inspiring women are and why in the comments below. It could be anyone from your mum to Beyonce (The Queen) to someone at work but let us know who’s special to you.

If you’re around The South Bank centre this weekend be sure to check out their Women of the World festival. With day passes priced at £12 and events happening throughout the day – from exhibitions to talks and performances – it’s well worth a visit!
Manchester is hosting a few events for International Women’s Day but the main one will be the ‘Women In Performance’ event at Three Minute Theatre. Tickets are only £3 and the music starts at 7.30pm.
If you around the Midlands on Saturday then Derby is the place to be. The International Women’s Day Festival takes place in the Market Place and will feature workshops, entertainment and stalls – perfect to pop along to with the girls and the boys!
If you’re feeling energetic on Saturday then why not try Parkour (free running and jumping) across the city of Glasgow. As a group activity it’s a great opportunity to try out something new and make some new friends along the way!
