We’ve got a very exciting new collaboration coming up that we can’t *wait* to tell you about! Let’s take a look at the new “Art School” collaboration with Katie Whitton…

With a splash of colour, a dash of sunshine and a generous helping of print, University College of the Arts graduate Katie Whitton has painted a pretty Art School collection for Oasis Spring/Summer 2014. Discovered by Oasis’ in-house design team at the New Designers Exhibition – a platform showcasing new, young, design talent – Whitton went on to win the prestigious New Designers Award.

Inspired by her travels in Andalucía, Whitton’s original print designs felt like a natural match for Oasis, and following her win she was invited to collaborate on a seven piece capsule collection for Oasis, called Art School. The Art School collection draws heavily on Whitton’s water colour designs, mixing illustrative prints with contemporary styles including playful polka dots and washed stripes across jumpsuits, cropped tees, tailored separates and camisole tops.

Whitton comments: ‘It has been so exciting to work with Oasis on the Art School collection. My designs for Oasis were developed from water colour paintings and pen drawings and I wanted to include a combination of illustration and non-figurative styles. I develop designs exploring composition by using collage and placement of colour and surface to create bold patterns and through mix screen-printing and digital printing we were able to produce lively, modern designs on fabric.’

Watch out for the Art School collection launching in the next few weeks online and in stores.
