RANDOMNESS19/02/2010 - 13:15 |
Landed on our desk today: Random Magazine. We have heard about it on the grapevine, apparently it’s been going for a while now but we didn’t realise how good it was until a copy placed itself in front of us on this dull Monday morning. This is not just a fashion magazine, it is full of hot topics such as music, art, culture, food, celebs, clubs and all that jazz. And the format is super cool with thick matt pages, well thought out graphic design and some stunning photography. We were particularly taken by the most beautiful Kaya Scodelario, better know as the tearaway teenager Effy Stonem in Skins. There is a fantastic fash spread and interview with our girl crush and she looks amazing in the scuzzy Glamour shoot filmed on a London rooftop! Top marks for the Ruskins interview too! We love it! O COLLECTIONS... IT'S ON IT'S WAY!!19/02/2010 - 13:19 |
Here at Oasis we are now full speed at producing our in house magazine O Collections and have just under two weeks before we go to print!!! It really is a labour of love and we have interviewed some inspiring people for the issue, hence our third magazine will be called ‘The Innovators’. Hitting stores on 20th February it will include a sneak peek at Spring Summer 2010 – we have all the trends covered so get ready!

BACK TO THE 90'S19/02/2010 - 13:10 |
It's the official, the decade of the 90s is now classed as a vintage era ! Last week saw the launch of ‘The 90s are Vintage’ at Selfridges, an exciting new project that kicks off the New Year at our fave department store. Selfridges’ first ever retail partnership is with fashion vintage emporium Rellik, plus Beyond Retro, IDEA books and 'Work It' among other 90s heroes and devotees. The Concept Store will present an edit of original nineties and nineties inspired products across fashion, accessories, lifestyle, beauty, design, music, media and film. From band tees to scent to memorablia; from kitsch to nostalgic to ground breaking. Wow!

Linda Hewson, Head of Creative at Selfridges says ‘The nineties were a seminal time for Selfridges and our shoppers. Looking back on the decade you remember all the amazing moments, people and products that have shaped our point of view today. I am so excited to be reliving the best bits in 2010!’ We have already been down to Selfridges and we love it, although one thing’s for sure - we are leaving our brightly coloured shell suits firmly in the 90s, a wardrobe shame and a fire hazard they must never come back into fashion!

KELIS GOES SHOPPING!19/02/2010 - 13:23 |
We have always been fans of her quirky style and so were very excited when the lovely Kelis, who was in town over the weekend, took a trip to Oasis to pick up loads of brand new pieces from the Spring collection.
She loved the trompe l’oeil dress, which we think will look amazing on her. She also picked up the two-tone leather jacket which she said she would be mixing with winter dresses until the weather warms up, but then with a slouchy tee and hotpants when summer (finally!) arrives!
She was OBSESSED with our leggings and bagged the black studded and monochrome print versions, plus our Mongolian Fur Jacket, which our spies later spotted her wearing to the launch party of her fifth album in Studio Valbonne, London.
Work it Kelis!

SNOW JOKE19/02/2010 - 13:24 |
We are sitting cosy in our office as the snow continues to sprinkle down outside. Looking at the new collections for Spring Summer dotted around the creative rooms (including a to-die-for printed afro clash bikini and dozens of cute little summer dresses) we can’t even imagine when it will be hot enough to wear any of them!
As temperatures continue to hit sub zero, chaos continues to reign the whole of the UK and overseas! Our recommendation – get home safely, snuggle up in a pair of pyjamas, fill up your hot water bottles and curl up with a good magazine like this weeks Grazia or the newest edition of Vogue (we are loving their supplement that shows all of the catwalk trends for the Spring Summer – providing Spring Summer ever reaches us!)

THE MEASURE OF SUCCESS!19/02/2010 - 13:27 |
Our fave weekend supplement Guardian Weekend has Oasis on its radar. They put Oasis at the TOP of their ‘what’s cool’ chart called The Measure! They also used a lookbook image from our Glamstock package which includes an update of our studded leggings, the mesh cut outs leggings. Get your wish lists ready girls!

OASIS HEARTS JPT19/02/2010 - 13:29 |
We are now busy working on our third edition of our fabulous in-house magazine O Collections and have some very exciting things in the pipeline. The magazine will be on sale just in time for fashion week and will give a sneak peek at the Spring Summer Collection, plus it will be jam packed with information, interviews, competitions and more. Unfortunately you will all have to wait a few more months until the magazine comes out, but in the meantime we can confirm that we will be working with the wonderful John Paul Thurlow in the third edition of the mag! We are absolutely thrilled to have such talent on board and cannot wait to view his work for Oasis! As JPT says on his amazing blog http://johnpaulthurlow.blogspot.com, he views his work as an attempt to remake cover art for every magazine he owns by illustrating in his own unique style. He is bringing out a book in the new year called Covers 1 – 100. It is limited edition so keep your eyes peeled as we can guarantee they will sell like hot cakes!

BOOKING UP!19/02/2010 - 13:31 |
We are a lucky bunch working in London’s East End amongst a hub of creativity, and we were even luckier when The Book Club opened its doors in September just a stones throw away from our office! The Book Club offers a new cultural revolution to London’s social scene fusing lively, creative events with fantastic food and drinks on offer seven days (and nights) a week. The team behind the venue consist of a talented bunch from different backgrounds including The Queen of Hoxton and Margaret. We love the relaxed surrounding, mis-matched chairs and our fave area has to be the ping pong table in the far room for mini tournaments. In the run up to Christmas there are so many cool and quirky events happening including the ‘Swapparama Razzmatazz’ (great name) this coming Saturday, where every time the klaxon sounds attendees must swap clothes with somebody next to them. Attendees are advised to wear clothes they don’t mind never seeing again. The Book Club recommends coming as your favourite film or cartoon character, which means Alice in Wonderland will be swapping with Batman who will be swapping with Wonderwoman who will be swapping with Fred Flintstone! Genius! Other highlights to look out for are on Monday 14th December when they have the Super Collider Christmas Sale, encouraging people to create their own science themed tree ornaments, and Saturday 19th sees a 90s themed night that will have people dancing away to the like of East 17 and 2 Unlimited. We cannot wait!

U R MY GIRL19/02/2010 - 13:31 |
We are always looking out for new music and have recently been following new band Kiss In The Cities.
There’s been much major label interest around them recently and it’s easy to see why when you hear the band’s first single, ‘U R My Girl’ which is a sublime slice of Cyndi Lauper/early Madonna pop released on new singles label Sevensevens.
They met, Laura Marden and Joe Cross, in a logic lecture at University. They were wearing the same digital watch. Laura aced the course. Joe failed it. The fight between Marsden’s often unguarded, explicit vocal and Cross’s pop showmanship is good to listen to. You can taste the glitter, the conflict, the truth
Both band members claim they think about pop music every three seconds…an encouraging statistic! We love their 80s pop punk and style and their thumping vocals.
You can hear the track on the band’s MySpace http://www.myspace.com/kissincities and buy it from one of the last (and best) remaining independent record stores in the U.K. Pure Groove. The single will be available for download as of 14th December but is available for preorder NOW. The run is a very limited one so if you want to buy one of these then I’d advise you to order as soon as possible as there aren’t that many left! We already have our copy and will be blasting up the volume and getting ready to it at all these Christmas parties coming up!

GO ON GIRLS!19/02/2010 - 13:32 |
We weren’t impressed back in the day when our parents insisted on playing back to back their ‘Now…’ cassette tape which featured Phil Collins ‘Easy Lover’, Annie Lennox ‘Walking On Broken Glass’ and Paul Wellers general warbling. But now we are pretty excited as the new girls in town are actually the offspring of the aforementioned classic crooners. They all have serious career ambitions, good looks and hot wardrobes…jealous, us? Leah Weller, clean living daughter of the ‘Modfather’ Paul, has been spotted out and about at several high profile fashion events and we think with her perfect lips and glossy hair she is going to excel in her chosen career of modelling!

Next up is the gorgeous Lily Collins. Now we were all a fan of Phil but he wasn’t exactly Mr.Cool. 20 year old Lily is already being hailed as something of a fashion icon and is a regular on the UK and US party scene whilst juggling an acting career and a journalism degree. Phew!

Finally the Lennox sisters. We have often thought mum Annie was very eccentric in her style and not scared to be individual and it looks like 19 year old Lola and 16 year old Tali (love the names!) have followed in her footsteps. Lola is pursuing a music career whilst Tali is making waves in the modelling world and has aspirations to be a designer. Follow your dream girl!
