LOVE, BUT NOT VALENTINE LOVE14/02/2011 - 18:48 |
If you’ve been observing our facebook and website of late you’ll see we’ve been doing all sorts of exciting things to get you in the mood for Valentines Day! And now it is finally here, rather than devote one of our beloved blog posts to all things red and romance, we spared a thought for those of you who are not loved up, who will not be receiving any roses or chocolates today and who hate Valentine's Day. So this blog is just a nice little post about the clothes we are loving this week.
First up has to be the bright chiffon blue number – if you saw Jessica Alba rocking her style crown last night at the Baftas you’ll be quick smart and order this online now! We are also loving the coral satin dress and if we were lucky enough to be going to the Brits tomorrow night we’d be channelling that with patent courts and screen siren hair (plus a martini on the rocks permanently attached to our hands).
Finally, we’re still feeling that rusty tobacco hue and would love to cover up in the oh so versatile boyfriend cardi – throw a printed t shirt underneath, skinny jeans and a leopard print belt and you’ll look every inch the off duty LA starlet (just remember, think Kate Bosworth not Britney Spears with this look or things could go drastically wrong)!

SEEING RED!24/01/2011 - 18:29 |
Crikey! Checking the New Arrivals section on our website today we discovered some real scorchers in for Spring. Taking a step away from the Winter’s more sombre tones, we’re seeing a real resurgence of bright colours again for the new season and here at Oasis we’re backing red!
There are various tones to go for starting from a deep and classic scarlet ranging to a vibrant coral. Talking of coral, we’re totally sold with the coral dresses, be it the one shouldered version or the tropical print number (which we can totally imagine on Rhianna!). If you fancy filling your wardrobe full of hard working separates opt for a jersey spot top or a gorgeous bow knitted jumper – very Olivia Palermo!

COVET THIS BOOK!20/01/2011 - 15:57 |
Claude Montana is a French fashion designer known for his refined figure hugging designs and in the early 90's he designed for the House of Lanvin, for which he received two consecutive Golden Thimble Awards. This month sees the release of Montana’s new book "The Fashion Radical", a book which reveals the rich inventiveness of the designer who played a key role in shaping the fashion trends of the 80's and 90's.
We love the book for the fact it has brilliant content including catwalk images and reproductions of his sketches, as well as telling an interesting story about his work and life.
Buy and keep forever on your coffee table to peruse when you are in need of fashion inspiration!

STRIPE OUT!04/01/2011 - 17:52 |
It’s first day back at work for us today and finding an outfit that hid the Christmas binge of endless Quality Streets and Baileys was hard this morning. However, have no fear as the clothes fairy is here! It’s a well known fact that vertical stripes make you look slimmer and some of the beauties we have instore at the moment are the perfect offering.
Our top tip is to always go a couple of sizes bigger than you usually would when you are wearing jersey that is quite fitted – the fabric itself can be very tight but if worn loosely has an overall slimming effect with the stripes. The boatneck long sleeve t-shirt is a classic style and shape which goes with everything. We love to team with the denim button through flared skirt for a 70's look with a modern day twist.
If you are feeling the cold try the knitted dress in tantalising chocolate and black or team the cap sleeve multi stripe sweater (in an array of colours!) with some skinny black jeans for an overall slimming effect!
There you have it – sorted!

THE GROWN UP GUIDE TO CHRISTMAS DAY DRESSING - BY KAREN DACRE23/12/2010 - 17:03 |
For some lucky folk, Christmas Day begins and ends in an oversized sweater and washed-out pair of leggings. For others, arriving at the breakfast table in anything that remotely resembles loungewear is unthinkable, considered by their respective mothers a cardinal sin. "It is Christmas" my mum annually whispers, as my sister and I - united in our quest - battle with eye-liner, champagne hangovers and suitcases full of inadequate outfit choices, "why don't you put some lipstick on?".
Such memories in mind, I'm going fully prepared this year with a carefully thought through ensemble that's certain to reap some serious, festive-flavoured brownie points. And that ensemble hinges on the perfect dress.
This season's fifties-style prom and shift-dresses are what mummy's girls everywhere are crying out for. Pretty enough to please the parentals, structured enough to cover a multitude of mince-pie-shaped sins and most importantly, fashion-forward enough to get you through the day with your style-centric dignity intact, a perfectly pretty frock is to December 25th what cold Brussels sprouts are to Boxing day: utterly essential. Colour wise, the options are plentiful - a simple style in black or red will make a subtle but chic statement while those after something a little more feminine can opt for a soft floral-print.
And if a side skimming dress is not your thing, a structured skirt and sweetie coloured sweater will make for a equally lovely fifties-inspired choice. A silk blouse looks lovely tucked into a lace pencil skirt while a cropped jacket looks great with a simple t-shirt and trousers.

COLOUR ME BAD21/12/2010 - 18:47 |
Amidst the snow, sequins, party frocks and mince pies that all come with Christmas, we see an interesting light at the end of the Festive tunnel. A new colour palette for next season! Hurrah! We’re really feeling the whole tonal spectrum that embraces the boring shade of brown – we’re talking tobacco, rust, tan, caramel, biscuit, sand and olive hues.
We’ve picked our top 6 from the Oasis website with the Tokyo Car Coat making a reappearance back online and taking the top spot for its total wearability and chicness (we’re so glad it came back in stock!). Another key item in our wardrobes next season is going to be the olive coloured ponte jeans which will look stunning with pretty much anything from a plain white shirt to a vintage band t shirt or a boyfriend cardigan. A final top tip from us? The striped boatneck long sleeve t shirt – it’s the update of a Breton stripe that the Fash pack are already donning!
What do you think of the new colour palette?

The Oasis sale has started online today! And it will start in a store near you tomorrow! We’re excited about the fabulous pieces to be had but our number one item has to be the Loopy Stitch Dress. It will make for an understated chic Christmas Day outfit when cooking for the masses (just make sure you wear a pinny). We’re going to wear on Boxing Day for a visit to the in-laws – they’re bound to be dazzled by our phenomenal style and fashion forward way of dressing!

OUR NEW LUST LIST16/12/2010 - 16:15 |
Some spanking new gorgeous items have just arrived online and we’re already playing sartorial mathematics at our desk thinking how we could see them fitting in our wardrobe and what we would style them with.
Our top pick is the ponte dress – it can be worn with anything and anywhere! We’re going to wear with chunky wedges, spotty tights and a cute hairband on Christmas day. We’ll then wear to the office with some thick opaque tights, ballerina bow pumps and a vintage locket.
We’re building up our basics for the summer with jersey tees in array of candy colours and loving the tan suede skirt which is perfect for those long winter walks with some cosy boots and a big woolly jumper.
The knitted hat and gloves get extra points for their cute matchability! Now bring on more snow!

FAIL - SAFE GIFTING: A GUIDE TO GETTING IT RIGHT THIS CHRISTMAS14/12/2010 - 18:27 |
A new species has been spotted terrorising Christmas shoppers. It's smug, cheerful and instantly recognisable by a distinct mating call. " I did all my shopping back in August", The Stress Inducing Christmas Spoiler - or SICP - trills as red-faced shoppers stumble, like lambs to the slaughter, in to it's path. Eughh, the sight of one is enough to make you want to gouge out your eye-ball with a fairy light.
I mean, it's bad enough that we have to spend every waking hour fretting over what polo-shirt size Uncle J will need and preying that The Beginners Guide to Japanese Whiskey - bought for Dad - is set free from US customs in enough time to be wrapped and put under the tree ready for Christmas morning, without having to listen to some mulled-wine-intoxicated do-gooder tell you how brilliant it feels to be "ahead of things".
This pain and suffering in mind, it is with delight that I stumbled upon a new Christmas shopping technique (well, I say technique it's more of a half-hashed method, concocted out of sheer desperation, but there you go). The idea, put most simply, is that you bestow on your friends and loved ones, gifts you know they actually want. Sheer genius, dontcha think? Having spent years desperately trying to think out the box when it comes to present buying, this year, I'm all about safe-bets. Your sister will love a pretty pair of cable-knit mittens - which is more than you can say for the bread-maker you gave her last year. Similarly, your mum has told you she needs an umbrella so why not buy her one? Think less about being clever, surprising, and original and more about giving the people you love something they'll love and you'll have this festive season will be a wrap in no time. Simples.

THE ONLY SKIRT YOU WILL NEED IN YOUR WARDROBE!06/12/2010 - 18:38 |
We have received great news that the baroque sequin skirt is going to hit stores next week – just in time to solve all of your Christmas party dilemmas! It should already have arrived but due to that pesky snow there was a bit of a delay! Since we featured the skirt in our O Collections magazine, we have had loads of people asking when they can buy the beautifully sequinned piece – well lovely blog readers, just keep your eye out at the beginning of next week when it lands on the web!
Wondering what to wear it with? We say go simple with a black jersey vest or team with a chiffon blouse and sequinned headband for a ladylike chic look. We think it’s what Kate Middleton will be channelling on Christmas Day!
