Who’s heading to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival this year? We are and we’re so excited about it! Every year our favourite Scottish capital hosts the best known comedy and music acts throughout the month of August and the whole city is alive with people.
But when there’s so much comedy talent on offer, who do you choose to see? We’ve selected a few of our top picks to make it easier for you…
Amateur Transplants – creating witty musical numbers inspired by the everyday and ordinary (their classic ‘London Underground’ song is a favourite), Adam Kay is a musical legend with a dangerous sense of humour. Catch them at the Pleasance Courtyard most evenings during the festival.
Cassetteboy vs DJ Rubbish – youtube heroes, Cassetteboy have taken on high profile figures with their cleverly edited videos and for the Fringe they’re teaming up with rapper DJ Rubbish for a night time comedy party. Expect deliberately terrible rhyming at the Pleasance Dome just after midnight.
The Wrestling II – so the Fringe is famed for comedy yet we’re talking about wrestling? Ok… no seriously! This show walked away with the Foster’s Panel prize in 2011, and why wouldn’t it when it showcases professional comedians fighting professional wrestlers in spandex. Taking place on 13th August, this is one show you don’t want to miss.
But don’t forget to head up to our Edinburgh store too as there’s lots going on to celebrate the festival too. College of Art graduate, Eilidh Muldoon will be taking over our windows with her magical illustrations – come and cheer her along from 1st to 3rd August. You can tweet us if you see Eilidh over the weekend using #OasisDoodles and check out her work here.
We’ll also be handing out pretty balloons with a possible £200 voucher up for grabs and there’ll be special printed tote bags available to buy in-store. So what are you waiting for…have fun at the festival!
