For a lot of us, work is where we spend most of our week, so why only get dressed up at the weekend? Here’s the first of three interviews with city girls we truly admire, and we’re starting with Natacha Blackman.

Oasis – Hi Natacha, pleased to meet you! Tell us about what you do?
Natacha – I work for a consulting firm focusing on the retail industry, which involves helping retailers improve their performance, whether it’s online or in stores, creating strategies for growth, at home or internationally. I recently switched from finance, which was a complete career change. It’s been really interesting so far – I’ve always been passionate about retail.

Oasis – And so are we! What does a typical working day look like?
Natacha – As cheesy as it sounds, there isn’t really a ‘typical’ working day in my job! Some days are spent in the office researching markets or performing company analysis, others are spent presenting to our clients. It depends on the project and what stage it’s at.

Oasis – Even though you may not know what you’ll be doing that day, do you spend a lot of time thinking about what to wear to work?
Natacha – I do, actually. It’s quite tough to find workwear for women that is professional and appropriate for a city firm, while still looking ‘young’ and fashionable.

Oasis – Would you say you wear completely different things to work than you do at the weekend?
Natacha – Definitely – I’d say my daytime weekend looks are a lot more relaxed (usually involving jeans or my dance gear) than what I’d wear to the office, while my evening looks are a lot more glamourous and fun.

Oasis – How would you describe your personal style?
Natacha – I’d like to think of my personal style as classic but still chic. I like a lot of classic shapes, e.g. pencil dresses for work, but it’s important to me to keep my look young and fresh… Classic but by no means boring!

Oasis – Definitely the best description! What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever been given?
Natacha – The best fashion advice I’ve ever been given is to experiment with wearing colours. I tend to wear too much black!

Oasis – What are your tips for boardroom to bar dressing?
Natacha – Keep it appropriate but elegant – like a black pencil dress or pencil skirt with a silky blouse. Pair your outfit with heels when you leave the office and voila – perfect day to evening look.

Oasis – Why did you choose the outfit you’re wearing today?
Natacha – I like to wear dresses and skirts to work that have a youthful shape and finish slightly above the knee. I love this Oasis dress – it wouldn’t be the type of thing I’d normally pick for myself because I tend to shy away from patterns, but I love it!
Oasis – We’re glad you tried something new as it really suits you!

Natacha is the first lady to be featured in our new series of workwear posts, so stay tuned for next week’s interview! In the meantime, check out Natacha’s feature here.

Love this! Finding the perfect office outfit can be a nightmare. I’m 5’10 so often have an issue with the length of skirts for work. Looking forward to the next edition.
